Call For Artists - April 2019

The First Friday Art Show, on April 5th, is the kick off event for a very special week of activities, organized by the Faith Always Wins Foundation, that culminates with the Faith, Love, and Walk event at the Liberty Memorial on Monday, April 15th.


SevenDays is hosting a catered Artist Reception at the gallery on Thursday, April 18th, from 4pm to 6:30pm. They will be inviting their list of donors to attend and purchase art in support of the foundation and the Kansas City art community.


 All proceeds of art sales will go 50/50 in support of both the artists and the foundation.


Entry Fee - $37

Marketing Prizes

The gallery will award 3 different artists 1 year residency in the Jones Cyber Gallery (valued at $500 each).

This Art Show is open to artists and photographers of all levels, and work in all mediums, but each piece must have a connection to one, or several, of the following themes.

Rules for Participation

Eligibility

This is a nationwide art show open to artists 18 years of age or older.  All artwork must be for sale and the original creation of the submitting artist or photographer.


This Call-For-Artists is only open to 2D art in all mediums and subjects (with discretion) including photography. No reproductions of original paintings or drawings are allowed.


Artists wanting to enter the jury selection process may submit up to (5) images to be reviewed. 


NOTE: Previous acceptance into one of our Art Shows DOES NOT constitute acceptance into future shows.

Entry Fee

A non-refundable entry fee is required before being entered into the jury-in selection process.


$37 plus tax

*Early Bird Entry Fee - $27 (Until March 4th) 


Upon payment, artist will receive an email from Oz.JonesGallery@gmail.com (within 24 hours) that includes a simple registration form to submit their art for the selection process.


NOTE: Payment DOES NOT guarantee acceptance into the First Friday Art Show as we may receive more entries than gallery spaces available.

Selection Process

STEP ONE - Pay CFA entry fee for the month of April.


STEP TWO - Submit digital photos of your art for the jury-in selection process.


STEP THREE - Jones Gallery staff will select the artists to be included in April Group Art Show.


STEP FOUR- Artists are notified by email of their acceptance into the art show


NOTE: Based on the size of your original art submitted, gallery will choose a maximum of (3) originals to display for the show you have selected.

Art Display Options

Art or photography displayed at the gallery in the past year will not be accepted.

  • Display up to a maximum of 3 originals.
  • Art Show is on our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors.


NOTE: Art MUST be wired in back ready to hang.

Submitting Images of Art

All images need to be in the JPEG format and can not exceed 5MB.


Images MUST show the entire original artwork but DO NOT need to be cropped to remove the frame or background.


Although we're not here to judge the  photography of your artwork and Photoshop cropping skills, it is recommended you spend some time to provide a quality photograph of your art when submitting.

SevenDays Benefit Art Show

This is a wonderful opportunity to use your art to make a ripple of kindness and love with this month long Art Show to benefit the Faith Always Wins Foundation.


Art Show will be on display from Monday, April 1st through Thursday, April 25th.


  • April 5th - First Friday Art Show - 5pm to 9pm at the gallery
  • April 15th - Faith, Love & Walk - 5pm at the Liberty Memorial
  • April 18th - Artist Reception - 4pm to 6:30pm at the gallery

First Friday in the Crossroads Arts Distrist

Local Artists:

If possible, please bring some refreshments and/or appetizers to share with the public. Wine, beer, pop, or water in coolers is acceptable too. The gallery has tables set up along the west wall and provides plates, cups and napkins.


National Artists:

The Crossroads Arts District is packed with happening art galleries in restored warehouses. Hip coffee bars, brewpubs, BBQ joints and retro-styled bars dot the area, along with independent shops selling fashion, and handcrafted jewelry. At monthly First Friday events, art shows and food trucks draw big crowds.

No Commission on Sales

All purchases will be paid directly to the gallery by cash, check, or charge. No commission will be charged by the gallery on any sales for this show.

 

To increase the likelihood of selling your art, it is highly recommended that selected artists or their representative be present during the Thursday night Artist Reception and First Friday Art Show. 


Art purchased through the gallery may be taken by the patron at the time of payment.


Artists are notified by email of the sale and should have art ready to replace the sold piece at their earliest convenience. Out of state artists are not required to replace any sold art.


Payment to the artist for any sold artwork will be by check at the end of the art show. Out of state artists will be paid through the Jones Gallery PayPay account with all applicable PayPay fees being the artist's responsibility.


NOTE:

A 3% fee will be charged to the artist if the purchase of their art is made with a credit or debit card.

Local Artwork Delivery and Pick Up

All art must be labeled on the back with artist’s name, title, media, price, and best way to be contacted.


NOTE: Art MUST be wired in back ready to hang.

National Artwork Shipping and Return

SHIPPING ARTWORK

Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance (during shipping) of artworks.


All shipments MUST include a prepaid Return Shipping Label from UPS, FED EX, or the US Postal Service. 


Artwork must be shipped in strong, reusable cartons or crates with no free-floating Styrofoam or popcorn packing. Packing material must be reusable for return shipping.


All art must be labeled on the back with artist’s name, title, media, price, and best way to be contacted.


NOTE: Any artwork not wired and ready for installation WILL NOT be accepted.


RETURNING ARTWORK

Unsold artwork will be returned by the Jones Gallery to the artist within two weeks following the closing date of the exhibition in accordance with prepaid labels. 


Jones Gallery will not accept postage stamps, credit card numbers, or shipping accounts for return of artwork, nor will Jones Gallery staff take artwork to the post office or anywhere else to be weighed, measured, or pay for shipping.


Jones Gallery is not responsible for return of any artwork if shipping label is not prepaid.

Insurance and Liability

The Jones Gallery will exercise extreme care in handling all artwork, but will not assume any liability for loss or damage while on display in the Jones Gallery or during shipping. It is the artist's responsibility to independently insure their own work.
 

Artists accepted to the show give the Jones Gallery permission to use their submitted images or photographed images of their work on display in the gallery for promotional purposes.


Artists not delivering their art in the required time frame, without contacting the gallery, will be disqualified from this show with no refund.


Without special arrangements, any work not picked up in 30 days, from last day of show, will be donated to a charity of the Jones Gallery's choice.
